Laser Cutting and Engraving

Our 35w laser cutting machine allows us to cut and engrave a broad range of materials, from card and wood, to plastic and rubber. Unlike higher powered industrial machines, we can combine consistency and precision with fine detail and delicacy, producing truly beautiful results.

And whether we’re creating one-off prototypes, small production runs or anything in between, our technical expertise allows us to offer friendly advice and a personalised service to designers, makers and craftspeople of all kinds.

"I approached Megan looking for the highest standard of laser engraving and cutting. Not only does Megan provide the quality I look for, she does this with exceptional service, attention to detail and brilliant communication, often going out of her way to meet and exceed my expectations while applying her expertise to maximise the potential of my products."

Frequently asked questions

Our laser bed is 740 x 460mm, but the size we can cut depends on the sheet size of the material. See our materials list for more information.

As our machine is relatively low powered, we specialise in thinner materials. The maximum thickness of wood and Perspex we can cut is 5mm.

With the surface to be engraved facing upwards, the item can be up to (W) 740mm x (D) 460mm x (H) 150mm. Items must be flat and level- we can’t engrave cylindrical or uneven surfaces.

We can cut and engrave paper, card, plywood, MDF, veneer, perspex/acrylic, laser-friendly rubber, cork, solid wood and slate.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to cut or engrave any type of metal, PVC or leather, as well as many plastics. If you have a material in mind and are unsure if it is suitable, please get in touch.

We stock a small quantity of the most commonly used materials, including coloured paper & card, birch plywood & MDF, cherry, oak & ash veneer, Perspex, and rubber for making stamps. For larger jobs or alternative materials we have a number of suppliers we can order from. See our materials list for more information.

Depending on the material, we are often able to provide small samples free of charge. Please get in touch to let us know what you need.

Of course! As long as they meet all the requirements and you can deliver them to us, you are welcome to provide your own materials.

Yes. However, we generally prefer to do the printing ourselves, as this gives us far more accuracy during the cutting process. If you’d like to know more, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise you.

Every job is individually priced depending on a number of factors including design work, laser cutting/engraving time, materials, mocking up and postage. In general we charge £20ph for set up/mocking up and £30ph for laser cutting. For the most accurate quote or estimate, please fill in our enquiry form below and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

To give you an accurate quote we require a finished vector file as well as information on materials and quantities. Filling in our enquiry form should give you an idea of what we need.

Yes. Anything you can send in order to help us visualise your idea is useful though – whether it’s inspiration you’ve found, a quick digital mock-up or even just a hand-drawn sketch.

Our standard payment terms are 14 days from receipt of the invoice. However we often require payment upfront, before ordering materials or starting production. The faster you are able to pay, the quicker we can complete your job.

Our standard method of payment is via online bank transfer, but please let us know if that is difficult for you and we can arrange an alternative.

The best way to get things started is to fill in our enquiry form below. This should give us the information we need to formulate a quote or estimate for you.

Yes, it can be very useful to talk through things in person especially if your requirements are a little unusual! Please be sure to contact us first though so that we can send you some directions and arrange a suitable time.

We don’t have a minimum order quantity and are very happy to do one off products. Our minimum charge is £10 per job. However due to our small size, we are not able to mass produce items. Our maximum order depends heavily on the product and material as well as turnaround time, so please get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss your project.

For jobs that involve cutting, we prefer a vector file, ideally an Adobe Illustrator (.AI) file, but other vector file types are usually compatible (.PDF, .EPS, .SVG). Where it’s not possible to send a vector file, an alternative format (.JPG, .TIF, .PNG etc.) can be used, but these file types will need translating into vector format, so will incur an additional charge. If a job only requires engraving, a high quality JPEG or similar is usually fine.

Yes, of course. We have a wealth of knowledge in designing for laser cutting and would be very happy to work something up for you. Unless the concept is very basic, we will usually require a visual to work from (inspiration images or a rough sketch) but we are happy to discuss this with you. Our standard rate for design work is £20ph.

Due to our small studio space and the high value of our laser cutter, unfortunately we’re not able to hire out our machine.

Whilst we pride ourselves on our fast and efficient turnaround, this can vary depending on a number of factors. If you are working to a specific deadline, please let us know.

You can cancel your order at any time prior to production. However, any specially ordered materials or completed design work will need to be paid for.

Delivery charges vary depending on the size, weight, value and speed of delivery. We will usually give you a couple of options depending on your order.

We use a variety of delivery methods depending on what’s most appropriate for the order- usually either Royal Mail or a courier service. All items will be packaged in the safest and most appropriate way possible.

Yes, as long as it’s between our standard business hours (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm) we’re very happy for customers to collect. Please let us know when you place your order if that’s what you’d like to do.
